One of Elon Musk’s companies, NeuraLink, has reported successfully implanting a human patient with a human-computer interface. In this case, the human computer interface is a microchip with 1000 electrodes connecting micro-thin wires to human neurons.
The chip is able to register electrochemical signals emitted by the brain and report those signals to a computer. Elon Musk said the patient was, “recovering well,” without giving any details.
Musk says NeuraLink can measure signals related to human motion. His overarching vision is being able to control a computer at the speed of thought.
Imagine if Stephen Hawking could communicate faster than a speed typist or auctioneer. That is the goal.

We first reported on NeuraLink getting FDA approval for human trials in the fall, and here we are with the first implant. The first device, Telepathy, is designed to help people who lack mobility and using accessibility devices to control computers and more. I think this is a worthy cause, but we all know we’re headed for a future of chipping humans to add AI in their brains.
Musk and the rest of these rich pronatalists are figuring out ways to live forever, or live on Mars. They’re doing that using us, folks who are marginalized, as their laboratory.
That isn’t right.
