Hertz came back strong after the pandemic stunted rental car companies. Hertz wanted to differentiate itself by adding 100,000 vehicles to its fleet by 2022. Instead, the company added 50 thousand Tesla’s bringing the total size of its EV inventory to 11 percent.
The company is doubling down on its promise and wants to boost its electric vehicle inventory to 20 percent by 2024. They’re going to need to hustle to make those numbers.
Tesla’s 2022 price increase, and its inability to meet its own delivery timetables will hinder their progress. In addition to the other 50 thousands Teslas, Hertz is planning to purchase 175,000 electric vehicles from GM over the next 5 years.
