There are some things you can’t make up. Zuckerberg touting new AIs that impersonate celebrities as a killer app is one thing you can’t make up. Meta’s AI-powered nude sticker generating feature for Messenger is another.
MF (Meta/Facebook) rolled out an update for its Messenger program this week. The new feature was made available to test users pretty quickly resulting in some wild prompting. Some users reported being able to make stickers featuring our beloved Mario and Luigi holding guns, caricatures of black child soldiers, and characters exposing their, clutches pearls, buttocks.

This is the latest example of rushing AI-enabled products into the universe before they’ve been adequately tested. In a bid to be first in everything companies are handing the Internet tools they can use and abuse for clout and vitality. It’s almost as if these companies aren’t employing ethics groups or responsible AI teams to exercise products before releasing them in the wild.
Hmmm. I wonder….
