Apple Mixed Reality Headset Rumors Become Reality

It’s been a long while since I’ve enthusiastically written about Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference. The iPhone has become stale with incrementally updates and they still haven’t gotten rid of the notch. MacBook Pro specs get ever more impressive, but the operating systems becomes more and more tightly restrained. The Apple Watch lasts longer and is more powerful, but looks the same.

WWDC 2023 begins this Monday, June 5th, and this could be the announcement of the decade.

Apple’s rumored Mixed Reality headset may be the headliner for this year’s event.

What About the Specs?

We don’t know much about the new headset except it’s not priced for the consumer market. Apple is manufacturing thousands of the devices for the developer market to give innovators a chance to define the next big thing.

It’s expected to be priced at $3,000 per unit, and will come packed with advanced cameras and high end screens presenting a hyper realistic world. Apple’s device is also a mixed device. The headset will allow you to see the outside world in addition to the VR world.

Rumor has it the headset will be equipped with two 1.41-inch Micro OLED screens, each with 4,000 ppi, and they’ll be able to go beyond 5,000 nits of brightness. You should also be able to see 4K resolution per eye.

Apple has trademarked a new operating system name, xrOS, just in time for WWDC.

I’m honestly excited and looking forward to seeing whatever Apple releases this Monday. Stay tuned.
